About the Firm

Cole started Downey Law Practice LLC with a simple goal: accessible, friendly legal advice about difficult topics. With the resources available today, everybody deserves clarity in their legal proceedings. Our firm is dedicated to that mission, and goes the extra mile to make sure our clients are educated and prepared.

Originally from Geneva, Illinois, Cole Downey earned his Bachelor of Arts from Monmouth College. While there, he was an editor for the Midwest Journal of Academic Research and a national competitor for the forensics team. Soon afterward he moved to Portland to pursue his passion in law. While attending Lewis and Clark Law School he was an editor for the Environmental Law Review, a volunteer with both the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic and St. Andrews Family Law Legal Clinic, and a passionate advocate for the funding of student activities.

Upon joining the Oregon State Bar, Cole quickly began advocating for both landlords and tenants during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has expanded his practice as a result. He hopes his firm can contribute a positive impact to the Oregon community.
